Now here's a good idea!
We've heard a great number of people whining about how there's all these people who spend endless thousands of pounds on their streetfighters, and in doing so outclass those of us who haven't got as much spare folding. Of course, a quality streetfighter isn't built simply by having a fat wallet, there's far more to it than that. But, if you're one of those who think that a full-on build is going to require a bank heist or a second mortgage, how about building a bike to compete with Paul Bainbridge?
Now, while Paul built the single-sided (front and back) Blade that was on the cover of SF189, we're not referring to that bike.
Paul and his goodly chum Andy Glover (he of the supercharged Spondon Gixer) have put their heads together and come up with a challenge:-
100cc streetfighter challenge - the 'Squeaker Fighter.'
1. The bike must be road legal. Competition bikes registered for the road are NOT allowed.
2. Capacity is limited to 100cc two strokes, 125cc four strokes or air-cooled 250cc four stroke twins. Tuning is unlimited (within capacity regs), so turbos, superchargers and nitrous are allowed!
3. Anything goes with respect to frames, wheels, brakes etc!
The challenge will revolve around 0-40mph times, braking 40-0mph times and an open road run!
The plan is to inject a bit of fun and adventure into streetfightering!
So, get Squeaking!
